Training Courses
The South Pacific Welding Federation (SPWF) is dedicated to providing comprehensive and high-quality training pathways to equip our students with the skills and qualifications needed to excel in the welding industry. Our training programs are designed to meet international standards and provide a clear progression path for individuals seeking to advance their careers.

ISO 9606: This international standard specifies requirements for qualification testing of welders for fusion welding of steels. Achieving ISO 9606 certification demonstrates a welder’s competence to perform welding tasks to international quality standards.
MEM Certificates III and IV: The Australian and New Zealand Metal Engineering and Manufacturing (MEM) Certificate III and IV programs provide foundational to advanced training in metal fabrication and welding. These qualifications are essential for those looking to establish a career in the industry.
AS/NZS 2214 Supervisor and Inspector: Certification for supervisors and inspectors under AS/NZ 2214 ensures that individuals have the necessary skills and knowledge to oversee welding operations and conduct inspections to maintain quality and safety standards.
AS/NZS 1796 Certificates 1 – 11: The AS 1796 certification spans from entry-level to advanced welding skills, covering a wide range of welding techniques and applications. This certification path allows welders to progressively enhance their capabilities and take on more complex projects.
International Institute of Welding Qualifications

- International Welding Practitioner (IWP): This certification recognises welders who have gained practical experience and knowledge in welding, ensuring they can perform a variety of tasks to a high standard.
- International Welding Inspector – Basic (IWI-B): This certification is for entry-level welding inspectors, providing the fundamental knowledge required for inspecting welding work.
- International Welding Inspector – Standard (IWI-S): This advanced certification builds on the IWI-B, equipping inspectors with more in-depth knowledge and skills for comprehensive welding inspection.
- International Welding Specialist (IWS): This certification is aimed at individuals responsible for supervising welding activities, ensuring quality control, and implementing welding procedures.
- International Welding Technologist (IWT): This certification is for those who are involved in the planning, execution, and supervision of welding processes at a technical level.
- International Welding Engineer (IWE): The highest level of certification, the IWE, is for individuals who are responsible for overseeing all aspects of welding operations, including design, implementation, and quality assurance.
